Chicago post-punk trio Plum released their debut album Can’t Hold On To It in 2024, praised by Audio Fuzz as “a vibrant mix of sounds, weaving together the upbeat rhythms of New Wave and No Wave, the experimental edge of Krautrock, and the gritty charm of Indie Sleaze.”
The album’s sound centers on the tension between Jeff Kelley’s angular guitar and off-kilter structures, Heather Perry’s melodic sensibility and dance-driven bass, and Karissa Talanian’s intuitive motorik grooves - yielding music that’s both jagged and infectious, moody and immediate.
Known for their energetic live performances, Plum has shared stages with Jack White, Acid Mothers Temple, Keiji Haino, and Brainiac, as well as Chicago scene staples Ganser and No Men. In December 2023, they completed a 10-date tour of Japan. With the amicable departure of Talanian in 2025, Eric Ridder joined the lineup and the band is currently at work on their second album.
